Showers and Receptions
The Smith-Byrd House is a great place to host your bridal shower or baby shower or luncheon. Showers can be set up in a buffet-style arrangement using Hostess sets, (an oblong plate with an indentation for the cup) giving the guests the opportunity to mingle in style. We offer assorted finger sandwiches, mini scones (lemon curd and clotted cream, of course) and tea. So, when you ask, "where are the places to have a baby shower," please think of us.
This does not preclude you from a sit-down event. You can combine your gift-giving with a Princess or Queen's Tea. Just take a look at our Group Menu to see if that might work for you. If you have any questions, please give us a call (334) 365-1459

Classes
Scone-Making Classes: Have you ever wanted to make your own scones? Join us for a fun casual time and learn how to make and bake scones.
- HANDS ON: Provides the hands-on experience of getting your hands in the dough, incorporating the wet and dry ingredients and getting the right texture for your scone. After which you will enjoy your freshly baked scones, while sipping on a hot cup of tea. Included in the class are recipes for the scones, the lemon curd and the Smith-Byrd House clotted cream. Class size: 4 to 6 people. $25 per attendee.
- HANDS-ON WITH LUNCH: In addition to the details in the Hands-On class listed above, this also includes quiche and salad or finger sandwiches and salad, to enjoy along with the scones from class. Class size: 4 to 6 people. $30 per attendee.
- BAKER DEMO - During this class, a demonstration will be presented, discussing the wet and dry ingredients, incorporating fruit or other ingredients to add flavor. Baked scones will be sampled over a cup of tea, and a hand-out will be provided listing the scone recipe and the lemon curd and the Smith-Byrd House clotted cream. Class size: Up to 10 people. $20 per attendee.
- BAKER DEMO WITH LUNCH: In addition to the details in the Baker Demo class listed above this includes the quiche with a salad or the finger sandwiches with a salad. Class size: Up to 10 people. $25 per attendee.
Tea Tasting Class: You may have your favorite flavor of tea, but still wondered what else was out there. Look no further. The Smith-Byrd House offers tea tasting classes featuring white, green, oolong, black and herbal teas. We set up 12 -14 different teas for the event. Each person will have the opportunity to taste each tea, evaluate the "cup," and take home a bag of tea. $20 per attendee.
